NEAT or NOT; Moschino chain jacket

Yes, I know we adore gold chains, but who has ever thought of them as outerwear? Moschino designer Rossella Jardini came on idea of chains on the top so she designed a jacket. Jacket made of chains. The “bare jacket” from spring ready to wear collection is built by black leather frame that links elegant gilt chains. Because of chains, jacket is sheer so it hardly can be jacket in the meaning of a word. Though is uncommon, this round neck metal jacket can be great statement piece for spring, especially for the evenings. Also what is special is the price of it (€2,975.65 on net-a-porter). Jacket had spotlight few times in editorials (February issue of Vogue Paris on Daria Werbowy and in Elle on Jennifer Lopez) and except Alicia Keys on American Music Awards, has not seen on anyone yet. If you ask me I’d say this gold hardware is totally Edie Sedgwick. And what you are saying? Is it NEAT or NOT?

What was happening in Saint-Tropez..Chanel Cruise 2011

Karl Lagerfeld is a man of talent. Except that, he knows how to produce a buzz. He goes to Saint Tropez, turns starts of the catwalk Elisa Sednaoui, Karolina Kurkova, Magdalena Frackowiak, Heidi Mount, Freja Beha Erichsen, and Abbey Lee Kershaw into actresses. Then he turns actress Diane Kruger and her beau into Bocce players. Awfully chic ones. And then except the film and chic festive photos, he shows us what would look like Chanel girl on her vacations. Last year she was in Venice. And the last year Chanel mademoiselle was bit reserved. Yes, and bit mysterious with her flapper hair. She wore practical pants to climb on the gondola easier, sailor dresses for resting and sparkly cocktail dresses or dramatic trench coats for the cocktail moments. This year Chanel Mademoiselle moved to Riviera. She is less dramatic and more playful. Her hair is bit wavy and messy and she is ready every second to land on après beach party or spend hot summer night barefoot. For the sunset walks, Karl dressed her in light floral dresses, made of chiffon, with lovely ruffles; not too many, not too Gypsy, just romantic. She gets suntan on her legs in check bikini or walks around in lace swimsuit embroidered with tiny little flowers. Karl might be a man, but he very understands what woman wants. There were lots of the beauties like all the Chanel white and lace dresses, or flamboyant striped dress on Abbey Lee and cardigan of same fabric. Blue plaids on Freja Beha, with washed denim pants have the boyish vibe. Who said Karl doesn’t want for us to play in the sand? He didn’t have such a bright moments in many other outfits and gladiator sandals on barely items reminded me on 70s Xena the warrior princess. But again everyone makes mistakes sometimes, and when Karl does those are so uncountable with all the brilliant things we saw from him.
Pants suits had a typical charm of Bianca Jagger, but it wasn’t just Bianca that Karl was evoking in Tropez. Many designers are celebrating 70s but we know Karl is too versatile just to focus on one period, so omnipresent except 70s icons like Bianca or Francoise Hardy were also Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin. And this time also he remembered of Collette, as he did in 2009 when was shooting Jerry Hall, but in the film. And Remember Now is to remember. First scene -Leigh Lezark as Gabrielle Chanel walking with a cigarette, stops to say; Everyone calls me Coco… I am mad for Chanel. “ Aren’t we all mad for Chanel?

Chic details; back to school

Remember the school? Were you one of those that were singing rebelliously "Teacher leave the kids alone in front", or you were with utterly devoted pupil team? Even if you were just a scholar full of joy, you must had one of those want to be all grown up moments. And now that you are all grown up, you still wearing similar items once you were wearing in benches? Hated or beloved, you must admit Mrs. School left very impact on who you are and maybe what you wear today. Do you ask yourself sometimes who would be the one that is nostalgic in the story of stylish education; us or the designers? For this fall, many of them announced comeback in benches; from Philip Lim, Generra, Peter Jensen, Proenza Schouler, Brian Reyes, Cynthia Steffe to Boy by Band of Outsiders. All those folks are crazy about the girl that wears toggle jackets, pleated skirts, vests, dresses with peter pan collars, all the lace-up footwear (from oxfords to booties), visible socks or the one up to the knee. If you are fan, no matter if you choose to be perhaps charming Lolita or Preppy out of college, you’ll feel satisfied in the fall with shops overwhelmed with new glance preppy items. In mean time, while we waiting, we could use some of the Nouveau school tips for the warm days. Who even said that we want to go on school vacations?

No 1 Nouveau school detail; Barrette in the hair

Yes, visible pin and there’s no much of philosophy about it, wear it just the way your mum once wanted for you to wear it. Just keep your hair sleek and tidy. If you have a bob or the shoulder length, look upon Margot Tenenbaum. If you have a long or short hair, find some inspiration from Phillip Lim spring runaway. Hairstylist Odile Gilbert made a side part and wrapped hair in old school side-chignon. She used two red barrettes, on the front and on the back above the chignon. Red color of pin is ideal charming match for spring pastels.

No2 Nouveau school detail; brown satchel
Don’t tell me you are not head over heels for satchels this season. Perfect version of satchel, for spring and plenty of summer dresses and floral prints would be in brown or tan. If you are in lack off around €1000, forget about Mullbery’s Alexa or Proenza’s PS1 and go for the vintage. Make a little flea market trip or find something fits you on Etsy. Just make sure that if has handle has a large shoulder strap so it can easily transform to shoulder bag. And sometimes can be just nonchalant oversized clutch .

Sarah Jessica Parker, with her wavy hair on the side won the hearts of many in 70’s style dress from Halston spring ready to wear collection. Long simple falling dresses were absolute hit of the evening which is proof of this season craving for maxi when it comes to hemline. Who could wore the dropped hemline better than Diane Kruger and Zoe Saldana? Both Calvin Klein protagonist, you couldn’t tell which one is more gorgeous when on the photo together. Lauren Davis (Santo Domingo) or better to say Absolutely Irresistible, pleasantly enchanted with Proenza Schouler nude dress that she wore in simple way, with red lipstick and loose ponytail. Another Proenza girl, Chloe Sevigny was in lace dress.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER, ZOE SALDANA AND DIANE KRUGER WITH DESIGNER, LAUREN SANTO DOMINGO

For Iman we know that clock stopped a long ago because she is equally classy, simple and gorgeous as she was 30 years ago. Rachel Zoe was very Sunset Boulevard Rachel in Marc Jacobs . While she had breakfast at Van Cleef & Arpels, Amber Valletta had a tasty Breakfast at Tiffany’s with Roland Mouret's dress on. Aussie beauty Naomi Watts was beautiful in one sleeve Lanvin creation. If she only had for illustration just a YSL suede black heels on her feet I would fall in love.
Couture princess was Kate Bosworth in Valentino dress from spring couture. Call it or not The Overdo, but if last night instead of America Woman, was a pageant for American princess the winner would be Anne Hathaway in Valentino and 1st runner-up (or vice versa) would be Doutzen Kroes in Zac Posen tulle dress.

KATE BOSWORTH, NAOMI WATTS, AMBER VALETTA

From IT Clique; Alexa Chung was la garconne, dressed tip to toe in 3.1. Phillip Lim, Charlotte Gainsbourg in Balenciaga, Kemp Muhl in Marni and Dree Hemingway in Calvin Klein Collection.

From Model Clique; Coco Rocha was in Zac Posen printed train dress. Beautiful SASHA Pivovarova was channeling the schoolgirl on vacation in Marni. Donna Karan darling was Karlie Kloss in purple sleeveless gown, while designer Vera Wang looks like a model herself in her own design. Karolina Kurkova and Anja Rubik both were ladylike edgy in Altuzarra, Elisa Sednaoui was just Chanel with Karl, himself. Jessica Stam could stop all the traffic around Met in Rachel Roy purple simple long dress paired with vintage Bulgari jewels.

JESSICA STAM, CAROLINE TRENTINI, VERA WANG

Exhibition entitled Celebration of American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity will be open to public from tomorrow, May 5th till August 15th. "The show looks at fashion's role in defining how American women have been represented historically, and how fashion costumes women into archetypes that persist in varying degrees of relevance.", said Andrew Bolton, Curator of The Costume Institute. Visitors would see 80 examples of haute couture and high fashion, and some of the pieces that have not been seen by the public in more than 30 years. Featured are Travis Banton, Gabrielle Chanel, Callot Soeurs, Madame Eta, Elizabeth Hawes, Madame Grès, Charles James, Jeanne Lanvin, Liberty & Company, Edward Molyneux, Paul Poiret, Elsa Schiaparelli, Jessie Franklin Turner, Valentina, Madeleine Vionnet, Weeks, Charles Frederick Worth, Jean-Philippe Worth and others significant designers from history. Exhibition is divided in circular galleries animated by music, video, and lighting. Each gallery reflects the milieu of each feminine archetype. If you are involved in fashion or simply a lover you will sleep in front of "Heiress", 1890s ballroom filled with Worth’s gown or 1920’s "Flappers" gallery with legendary Patou’s chemise dresses and Lanvin and Molyneux gowns, shown against a mural of New York City inspired by the paintings of Tamara de Lempicka. The ones as "Gibson Girl" (1890s), "Bohemian" (early 1900s), and others won’t be less inspirational or interesting.
