edwardian summer with TBA

TBA garments during these years really had reflected enchanting optimism of new generation that is in fond of sweet fashion. Binbin McNiven always had a crush on Edwardian memories of the past, so like our ancestors she has great appreciation for details. Every time Binbin amuses us with her visions projected into to be adored, she always leaves us breathless. While in the autumn collection there was more playing with edgy vibe of her sophisticated girl, for spring and summer she took us again to the great romance. It’s true that never was a label that connects in this way the romance of lost time with 1960s sparkling time. This romance is never boring; it is adventurous party of love for dressing up. Ensembles that look ideal for summer garden party, irresistibly remind of pages from Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, written by hand and illustrated by British artist and teacher Edith Holden at the beginning of the last century. This summer, TBA delightful frocks came to life again with the help of the silk, organza and lace. As her signature, little Peter Pan collar is still here and made of pearls on orange skater Amelie and white Dawn. Except for the collars, Binbin is extremely popular among her fans with all her scalloped playing (trimmings, hems and necklines) so she created awfully perfect white dress for summer time; sheer in combination with scalloped organza insertions on the front. Like in the last good time of upper class, when Binbin creates a blouse (this time lilac April and cream Bethan blouse) you cannot settle down for cheaper solution from high street. It really bothers you. Not to mention pale pink Simone and olive Odette dresses. Really can’t think of nothing else and your mind is truly bedazzled. And all you want to do is live in the past time, read books on the tea parties and talk with the birds.

Spring 2012 is on sale now at to be adored shop

bonjour

Erdem Moralioglu has always been on the lists of smart designers, especially in the season when we like to show bit of the skin. As designer that has a feeling for girl’s need for flowers, floral pattern from Erdem is something that he just loves to play with and we cannot say no to that game. This spring 2012 collection from Moralioglu’s marvelous factory gave us an idea of that sweet, tempting summer vibe. This time the woman Erdem showed us is not serious, mature woman but young girl on holiday, ‘trying on adult clothes, just edging into self-awareness’ as style.com’s Tim Blanks noticed. Erdem, great storyteller went on literature voyage so his main character was seventeen-year-old Cécile from Françoise Sagan’s novel Bonjour Tristesse. Did we imagine Claire as Erdem described her in his runaway book, I really can’t tell because books are always leaving that delightful space for individual imagination. But surely she is different from young Jean Seberg that played decadent Cécile in the movie. Designer imagined that wearer would carry around great dose of sensuality, in very innocent way. She is the girl with high–class attitude. It’s not the attitude nouveau riche have, she spreads pretentiousness in very traditional way. If she is lost, or trying to discover her real self, we cannot tell that from her clothes, because she has a good judgment for what the meaning of style is. Outfits consisted of printed dresses, playful but slightly austere and short gloves (sometimes lace, sometimes silk) and little boater hats made of lace looks more like a walking costume, than runaway look. Erdem has ability to breath life into the designs, that’s for sure. And great tailoring skills to make off-the-shoulder neckline very appealing. And as the designer that knows how to deal with lace, he knows when it’s not too much or when it has to be on the proper place. And it’s always extremely fine and delicate. Erdem with bit of magic and a lot of talent took us from his catwalk to villa on the French Riviera. To experience sweet side of summer in very luxurious manner. Sunsets, drinks in the middle of the sunny day, lazy moments on deckchair while birds are admiring talent of your gardener, and easy going summer flirts at cocktail parties after a smart book. That’s exactly what a girl needs when she is welcoming summer days. So, thank you Mr Moralioglu and Bonjour summer!

meeting suzy bishop from new penzance

M-a-r-g-o-t. Tenenbaum. I really believe in Margot. I often imagine her in diverse situations walking around hauling her vague Nico melancholy and brown Kelly in hand. The one with missing finger. In vintage Lacoste tennis dress, Margot is an icon, and probably for 20 years or more will be Angela or Lula Mae to some new kids. Those kids would probably think of Lacoste as something really really cool so Lacoste peeps, if they haven’t already, should pay a huge amount of money to Wes Anderson. Being updated with The Rushmore Academy and everything that is happening in the world of Wes, loyal fans were waiting and waiting. We needed new female heroine, Wes! There’s no doubt that Bill Murray is genius but honestly, can Bill wear a dress? That’s why we can finally exhale – it came the time of Moonrise Kingdom. Suzy is much younger than Margot and is far from a lesbian affair in Paris or lusty marriage experience. Girl that listens to Francoise Hardy’s sensual melodies wears 60s dresses with white cuffs and collars, knee socks, saddle shoes and basket bag. When you see her, you can easily imagine Tennessee Thomas, drummer of The Like. Or Ye-ye girls. But Suzy can be also one of the Beatlettes. Is that a reason we tweet and tumble and google her peachy pink outfits? Kasia Walicka-Maimone did a great job as costume designer. But will Suzy become our favorite Halloween costume and a girl that we can relate to, like Margot Tenenbaum is. We’ll see. But I can tell you that I am very excited to meet her. Are you?
