All nude; from tip to toe

Nude tones and pastels are prevailing in every spring seasons so this year again there is a "case of neutral and blush" in various designers collections- from those that are masters in nude like Stella, Chloe or Sophia Kokosolaki are to those that are new in this territory of neutral. Not a strange cause nude tone can give strong effect and in the same time depending of the item can have different output on the outfit; Grecian sexy, rebellious edgy or romantic fragile. Since last spring season one of the top IT items was boyfriend blazer in nude, this year in outwear I was hoping to see the perfect nude parka but my favorite creators of nude failed in that. That certainly won't cause the depression, since there are many of nude lovelies out there- same as those "big", many of independent designers were this season playing with nude so I picked the most amusing but in the same time practical items. Let's see what are misslikey NUDE LIKES of the spring summer 2010 season.

LONG NUDE DRESS

Long dresses are absolute IT items of the season. In the summer the one that is sleeveless is good for mixing and matching with summer tops over it. If you choose the one in nude pay attention that is not too tight if fabric is bit see through.

Misslikey LIKES:
Acne long dress with kimono sleeves-Acne Collection has long dresses in nude with kimono sleeves and those tank. The one with kimono sleeves is item that you can wear in spring and summer. On the back has charming buttons in old school style.

Second one, long tunic is from New Zealand-based brand Lonely Hearts and part of "Brains for Dinner" collection. Silk tunic that is bit see through, is perfect for hot summer days with flats or for lace up boots in grungy manner. (for those not in N.Z or Australia it is available online at Bona Drag)
Talking about Australia, NZ and nude have to mention designer Nathan Smith (check his woman spring summer collection and all the lovely nude items he designs)
MINI DRESS IN NUDE
Nude mini can be minimalistic daily solution daily with different flats and for the night same dress easily can transform into the party dress. On the spring runaway Alberta Ferretti, always master in draping of nude and sheer fabrics didn't fail either this season neither Donna Karan that went in the same direction. Didn't fail either those Avant-garde like Bruno Pieters with body con draping or AF Vandervost with asymmetrical cuts. Devi Kroell is bringing little romance in the nude dress with camisole shape and buttons and Yves Saint Laurent and Rue Du Mail nude dresses are runaway items to fall in love with.

Misslikey LIKES:
Petar Petrov nude sleeveless minis.
Petrov, Bulgarian designer based in Vienna, except is the master in men's fashion, showed his abilities for womenswear this spring; collection is play of the basic colors and aesthetic shapes that in same time are totally edgy and ladylike. Except simple nude tank dresses, skirts or pants love factor are bit draped basic t-shirts in nude.

Second one on the image paired with black boots, simple khaki nude dress, part of spring summer collection of lovely LA based label Wren, named after Dickens character Jenny Wren, aka Fanny Cleavers.

Romantic one with white stripes is from Alabama Chanin "Love and Hapiness" collection. AC is label of designer Natalie Chanin, finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2009. This 100% organic cotton dress with camisole shape is like just created for romantic spring walks.

NUDE TOP
Last spring we and Vogue Paris lusted after Margiela's bodysuits in nude. Would we love this spring Celine and Bruno Pieters long sleeves body con tops in nude? The item is total basic and suitable for a lots of outfits. Totally simple but gorgeous on black skinnies and all fashion forward mix-and-match with everything that is in closet. The simple way is to get American Apparel tested bodysuit in nude. Currently they are selling those with short sleeves. Or go for lingerie basics that you be used good under wide neck tops or those crop to create a double color effect.

Misslikey LIKES
The pretty lingerie - strapless bandeau bra and strapless slip that can easily follow the "lingerie out of the bed" rule. The slip can be easily paired with a simple summer skirt and here comes your evening outfit. Both items are from label Isabella Oliver, where except womenswear, also design maternity collection (keep an eye on the trench coats)

For those crazy about crop tops loveliest solutions are nude crop tank from San Francisco RosenMunns or the one from Brooklyn's Ambit that has line of tops that can be purchased in LIGHT VISION store.

NUDE SHOE
Shoes in nude tones are spring summer love because they visually elongate the leg. If you have iconic Lanvin ballerina flats you don't have to bother - You'll wear them this spring for sure. From the catwalk of nude shoes I adore Givenchy nude wedges with knotted straps, but also I visited some of my favorite shoe makers to check out what they are offering in nude. According to seen- must be that nude is IT of the season's footwear.

Misslikey LIKES;

From London- based footwear label, F-TROUPE, that brings classical Brit charm to nouveau style, I picked in dancing Mary Jane shoes with satin ribbon and Oxfords embellished with tiny gold stars.
In the second row are Rachel Comey's ivory flats, just everything that girl needs for restless spring dressing (this pair available at Creatures of Comfort)
Other superb-finds are Peep Toe heels in clog style from Georgina Goodman and super cool Oxfords in nude with sheer detail from super cool footwear designer Jeffrey Campbell.

NUDE PLAYSUIT
Playsuit somehow manages to evoke in me childhood images. Last season craziness was for nude jumpsuit. This season is short; nude or printed.

Misslikey LIKES
What to say about this playsuit when image speaks for itself?! This "perfect little thing" is from British label Sykes spring summer 2010 collection. Founder, Joanna Sykes is on the scene for 4 seasons with her own label after working for many fashion houses. Sykes spring collection is transparent, simple and plain, filled with essential items same as those bit eccentric like leather pants or metallic pants suit.
Again nothing to add, except announce great love for Sykes.

We heart Polaroids...ON SCARVES

I remember when I used to play with my mum's Polaroid camera in front of the mirror as a kid. Things haven't changed now that I am a bit older so instead of playing I am in hunt for the same camera around antique shops. What- If Rachel Zoe has it, I have to have it too.
Joking apart, when Polaroid manufacture announced no longer production back in 2008, the photographers didn't feel very well, nor designers too- fashion shows could barely function without polaroids. But thanks to The Impossible Project, new techniques, Urban Outfitters, Lady Gaga's partnership with corporation, finally we can have a sigh of relief. And to heal the sadness we were feeling, we need to celebrate with every single polaroid. So except I celebrate with Andy Warhol, who is my one of favorites related to fashion polaroids or Jeremy Kost, few months ago I fell in love with those that Antonio Barros snaps. I'm sure if you are reading misslikey long enough you noticed that obsession of mine on the header of blog. Sometimes I just like to imagine everything as polaroid image, even myself, so you can imagine the happiness I felt today I bumped on collection of polaroid scarves on Reborn shop pages. Yes, you did understand well- Printed polaroid images on pure silk, luxurious and soft scarves. You don't know what to do with them first- to hang them on the wall or wrap around your neck?! Collection entitled Objets Trouves is collaboration between Philippe Roucou, French designer, master in "savoir faire" leather goods, as he alleged in interview for Dazed Digital and contemporary artist M. Chèrie.
The price for this collaboration of creativity and chic is $CAD 449. Shop on Reborn, download the lookbook on Philippe Roucou web, and just say Wow!

pursuit of a blouse

A simple shirt can be a style builder. The white one, bit larger than actual size and men cut is an icon. I am sure there has been happening very stealing from men family members or friends for classical men shirt among fashionistas. And it's not something that we learned only from Breakfast at Tiffany's and Lula Mae's white shirt when she opens door to Paul Varjak or from Sienna Miller when wears Jude's pink shirt in Alfie. Little borrowing-stealing habit was happening far in the past since originally it is men garment later adopted by woman's fashion. Talking about development it became sophisticated with years but our love for back to basis and androgyny, edgy cravings were just too big for the last few seasons. At the end is there anything more sexy than wearing just a shirt from your boyfriend morning after? Daily with pants or dress or maybe on leggings can can be very aesthetic experience in fashion meaning, and with layers of gold chains or rings very chicism.
But did we close our hearts for femininity with boy meets girl habit? Do we just play mix and match under the influence of trend or it is that fashion is expression for us and romance is lost behind? The influence of a trend, either you will admit or on not is huge. The other day came to my mind why I suddenly have this print craving of mine, which is bit odd if you ask me, since I used to be one of the all wrapped up in gray-beige-nude girls. Real Chloe and Stella McCartney under the influence product. So when did my closet become a garden? Maybe it was obsession with Alicia Silverston; floral tops on washed jean, colorful skirts on boots and nude legs, maybe early 90s rock, Bon Jovi girl with ripped jeans and floral cardigan that puts a coins in the jukebox in some bar in New Jersey. Or maybe Marc Jacobs's subtle mix of prints and patterns or discovering Celia Birtwell's romantic fabrics was my key moment. So, never really thought before I'll have this adoring for the blouses especially the peasant ones. Really colorful. Or wear leopard printed scarf on floral dress or on the blouse.
Blouse can really be a in-a minute chic solution; over the skirt or dresses, with the pants (black skinnies and blouse is always tested solution), under simple tank dresses. For more grunge look instead of creating a waist leave it to fall more casual. For bohemian just throw it over a long dress. It is really delighting that this year blouse was really star in rising on the spring runaway (click on the photo to enlarge). Sheer or translucent which is very trend of the moment wears classy Hermes girl after exhausting day on the tennis or John Patric's lady while Jen Kao rock star wears it with denim skirt and ankle boots. Bohemian charm has Etro where blouses are very delicate but in line with lot of prints, as Anna Sui flamboyant prints that seem like they just traveled around the world. Chloe's Hannah McGibbon finds a solution to lift a pants suit with casual cut with soft nude blouses. Opposite from Preen, where blouse just works for structured silhouette, Marc Jacobs used a silk fabric in nude while Julian Louie peach for glance of femininity. Cynthia Rowley, Behnaz Sarafpour, Erin Fetherston created gorgeous ladylike blouses with the bow, while at Ruffian are playing with ruffles on the sleeve. Downtown chic that usually kisses shorts or skirts on suede moccasins or gold leather ballerinas, whenever the ray of sun comes out is figured out at Rachel Comey and Karen Walker.
So, designers really offered us advices for how to wear a blouse but remember that the way you dress is most pleasant when its state of mind. And sometimes it would be really nice to allow yourself a dose of romance; is not that in printed blouse you will look like a homeless hippy or in a peasant like countryside housewife as in sailor blouse like a tourist. It's just particular charm that blouse brings to outfits.

what are misslikey blouse likes in the online shops?

1. Vintage blouse in leopard print on etsy 2. Another jungle fever influence is Michael Kors Tiger-print silk blouse, now discounted at Outnet, 3. For romantic lovers is ideal this tender floral vintage blouse with ruffles in front from etsy, 4. I fell on the first for this lightly sheer violet blue blouse from extraordinary SURFACE TO AIR. Those nude-obsessed would adore Chloe's silk ruffled blouse (5. netaporter) or nude blouse(6) with petal collar from Nadinoo, independent handmade clothing line which is bookmark on misslikey's to keep on eye list. For downtown girls would be perfect Rachel Comey lilac printed blouse (7, available at La Garconne), Peter Jensen(8) A-line floral blouse (at farfetch) or super IT this season- Miu Miu bird print on the blouse(9, at mytheresa). Another nude lovely blouse is vintage from Avant Gaudy(11) while sun-kissed blouses are just perfect for spring; expensive version is collarless Chloe blouse (10. at Browns) and on the budget is vintage from etsy(12) that has buttons on back and Peter Pan collar. Aren't we ready for flight to Neverland?

Fashion Week fall 2010 street style stalk; London, Milan, Paris

Fashion week season for main fashion capitals is ending with Paris. From what we saw on the runaway we easily can state that next fall will be everything but boring.
Except new clothes or faces on the catwalk, good old street remains a sacred soil for inspiration, so that's why I borrowed photos from some of our favorite street style snappers to create a photo diary. Enjoy our little style stalk!

Who's that girl: Anastasia Barbieri

On first you might mistake Anatasia Barbieri for movie star from the seventies; natural beauty with brown, silky hair below the shoulder, perfect face contours and Annie Hall meets Lauren Hutton in Paris style. Though she could be a movie star, she is one of the Carine's girls; part of the enormously talented clique of infants which every month allure us with cognizable style on the French Vogue paper. Well, we all know that Vogue Paris paper smells different and that Carine girls are all very pretty. Barbieri also, with the superb eye for the fashion. In the past years she had built envious portfolio as stylist; she is Vogue Paris mode editor also as fashion editor-in-chief in Vogue Hommes International. She contributes in Vogue Nippon, Korean and German Vogue, V Magazine, Harper's Baazar, Ten and many others...back in the days she also did styling work for Dutch Magazine. You must had spotted some of the admirable editorials she styled in (thank you Lord) politically incorrect Paris Vogue. No matter if she is dressing up the Femme Fatale or Countryside Girl they both have a dose of strong, sophisticated sexiness and mysterious romance. While even most flaring outfits have a frail and loose vibe (see Cherchez La Femme Diane K,The Princess Diary, Furry Friend or White Russian in Vogue Nippon, 30 avenue de Montaigne) in styling men editorials she plays with macho on some new level (see Rose Foudre in Vogue Hommes International).
In fact you can feel how both masculine and feminine are influence on each other in her work.
Besides editorial work, she does consultancy for many fashion house and styles ad campaigns (for Alessandro Dell'Acqua, Givenchy, D&G, Costume National, Kenzo, Cacharel).
Taking part in LENY Project by Mariela Gamboa and with work on NOIR, Danish fashion clothing line with conscience as consulting stylist along with photographer Marc Hom, proves that Anastasia except talent has awareness and sense. And her style: that's a subject for itself. And subject spotted by many street style blogs like Garance or Sartorialist. She seems to adore suits with made to measure glance but she stays very casual. Like in her work she balances items like very power pantsuit or even formal three-piece suit in very fragile , feminine way. Sometimes she breaks masculinity with elegant heels or ballet pumps, blouse or silk scarf. And sometimes is just her lovely face and hair.
Except adorned by street style snappers- she and Giovanna Battaglia look so good together on common photos- maybe cause Barbieri is raised in Italy (she was born in Croatia), recently Meredith Melling Burke in Vogue.com Most Wanted made a feature about Anastasia's tailored menswear look. Oh Boy. Let's say if somebody is supposed to learn us how to wear tuxedo I am very glad that person is Anastasia.
