Shinola Bixby is another wonderful model from Shinola, cool Detroit based brand that produces high-quality, handcrafted watches, leather goods and bicycles. The story of each Shinola bicycle begins in the legendary Waterford Precision Cycles factory in Wisconsin, where frames and forks are individually handcrafted by experts using double-butted cro-moly steel. Once shipped to their Detroit workshop, they undergo a custom-level assembly by bike specialists, and each component is fitted by hand and tested for precision. This close attention to each and every detail ensures that every bicycle that ships from the Detroit workshop delivers impeccable reliability and an unbeatably smooth and responsive ride.

Silk dress by Boy by Band of Outsiders
Boy by Band of Outsiders are proving their cool and clean vision every single season. This long silk dress with tunic silhouette is one of the ensembles seen at their autumn 2013 runway show. Simple, austere and artistic, Tri-Color Silk Dress by Boy by Band of Outsiders is one of misslikey’s favorite RTW dresses from this season. Beauty is in simplicity sometimes, isn’t it?!

little witches going sweet

Sweet details are something that is not usually familiar with the Gothic mood. Since we like unusual, we love to add a little of sweet and simple to our dark moods. Therefore contrast collar (Peter Pan, circle, ruffled or the narrow one) will turn us into Gothic princesses with the help of proper black dress. And simple neckline embellishment is always a good choice for sweet little witches that are so cool these days. Inspiration: take a look at eternal inspiration, mademoiselle Wednesday Addams (illustrated here by adnamaamanda on deviantart) or absolutely adorable The Little Witch of Greenwich on The Ones To Watch, photographed and directed by Hana Knizova and styled by Lucia Hajnikova. If we only had the ginger hair!!

Playful, Pretty and Print

After all those rains we thought that it might never come to us, but Miss Summer had decided that will slowly and elusively sneak into our lives. To have a spirit ready for a little summer playing, we are going to fight those irritating heat waves with friendly water and pleasant frozen drinks.
For those moments of play, many of us  will become joyful with the help of charming prints this year. What you wear reflects on how you feel, smart people used to say and this season thanks to all those magnificent folks that are designing and making our clothes, we finally have from plenty to pick. As most appealing of the swimwear offered this season I choose dear Lauren Moffatt that last few years became synonym for the playful and pretty swimwear. Her summer 2013 collection is mind-blowing and the one-piece in the heart print is already a huge star. We must not forget our dear Orla Kiely and one-piece in her genius Poolside print. As well, be close to good old gingham. The cutest little top/corset from Steven Alan would be perfect together with good old A-line denim skirt. After all the playing in the sand, in this combination you will be ready for all those see sighting sunsets.
So, are we ready for the joys that Miss Summer will bring this year?! Oh, oui!

Summer Librarians

She has a thunder in her heart. Thunderstorm. Not one of those storms where drops fall for few moments and then disappear like someone from above has pulled them and replace with sun like it was mistake. This thunderstorm is made of vicious clouds in gray shade that are hugging the human objects like they want to knock them down. This thunderstorm plays with you for too long and just when you want to close your umbrella...din….you realized you’ve been taken for the fool.
And there is it today, the new dance of your curtain announcing stubborn emotions determined in creating cracks on the sky that’s surrounds you.
She wants easy days to come. Easy days. Easy days with tender sunlight that are putting your affairs in order while unflustered breeze is giving balance and comfort to your being. She is aching for summery days filled with friendship with smart females and flirting with not so smart males. Tender summer days where her long flowy skirts will cover the secrets of her passions. Tender summer nights spent in revealing secrets and wisdoms of published works of Didion and Nin.
She doesn’t want black tears in her 1960s eyes on parking spaces in 4 am. She wants to be liberated from the locks around her wrists and thunders in her heart. She wants to run away from errands of other thunderstorms placed in other hearts. She doesn’t want listen to Blur.
She is tired. Tired of her foolish conscience. And she is tired of the noise of her heart.
She looks really cool. But she is a total nerd.

Get ready for spring with House of Fraser

Dearest readers, When Alice from House of Fraser asked me recently for a guest post here on misslikey I gladly accept it. They have so many pretty things so it was really hard for Yours Truly to pick the loveliest ones. Words are by dear Alice. Enjoy!

In my eyes, spring is a time for out with the old and in with the new, and that means, In order to make room for all of your new gorgeous spring clothes; you need to give your wardrobe a good spring clean. No-one likes cobwebs hanging off your clothes, or moth eaten floral garments, so take advice from the ladies who know how to keep their closets perfect.

For most of us, spring means floral dresses, cute ballet pumps, and the ability to have a casual stroll through your local park on a warm evening. As we are coming up to that beautiful time of year, I thought it was only appropriate to write a spring guide for all of you girly girls out there who love colour, patterns and my all-time favourite, the satchel bag!
I am always torn with the decision of what style to opt for in the spring and summer seasons. As much as i love the look of linen trousers and a casual smock top, I must admit a summer dress is always my first choice when choosing my spring outfits.

Nautical
In case you haven’t already heard, blue and white stripes are going to make a comeback, which means it’s totally ok to walk around the middle of London looking like we own a yacht. Blue and white striped dresses are my all-time spring favourite. They are so classy and elegant, and go with absolutely everything. Tan is a fantastic colour to put with blue and white, and especially in regards to shoes and bags, which means you can’t go wrong with a statement bag to go with your nautical theme!

The patterned dress
For all of you lovers of anything patterned you are in luck this season, as it appears that patterns and floral are the nation’s favourite choice for the spring and summer seasons. To me it doesn’t matter what patterned dress you choose as long as it has a bit of personality. Patterns are gorgeous to wear if you want to emphasise your beautiful curves, yet hide any unwanted lumps and bumps. Don’t be afraid to use colour this spring, the beautiful sunshine means its ok to wear bright and vibrant colours.

Silly Little Tea Cups

Unlike most people who start a day healthy with nice cup of tea, my mornings are reserved for extreme coffee addiction. (Oh, those writers!)
My special moment of teatime begins later, in the afternoon, and it’s usually English breakfast tea with bit of soymilk and honey, that I sip from one of the cups from my floral vintage collection. This had become one of my favourite rituals, especially if there’s neat literature around to keep my eyes busy.
I believe that you, dear readers, also enjoy in your teatime moments and that you pick your teacups with love and caring. Therefore, I think you would agree that hand painted vintage teacups from Silly Little Tea Cups share our idea of teatime as special moment. These pretty floral teacups with charming sayings will make any tea party special. We all know how we appreciate our moments of silence, so how perfect it would be to have teacups that are not just lovely, but also speak in your name. What yours will tell… Cheeky, silly or naughty?

Oh, dear Mr. Coat

Oh hello there,
Could we go out for a walk sometimes? You would hug me tenderly as I walk down the street moving away leaves that come my way. Please, keep me warm and make me chic, so I can look like I stepped out of film from far away land, made by the man…hmm…Godard, that’s his name. I cross my heart and kiss my elbow that I won’t spoil you with the boots, so I will wear my prettiest Mary Janes and finest cream lace on legs when we have date. When we come at home, I promise I will take you off gently and put you on my prettiest satin hanger. I would make myself cup of raspberry tea while you will sleep. I will whisper you softly the words of worship and love, and you will wait patiently for our next adventure and walk.

Yours truly, Moi

**Get Nouvelle Vague chic this season with prettiest coats with contrast detailing (collar, pockets, buttons). If you don’t have spare pennies to spend, try to find vintage collar or use your imagination to create something you always wanted to have. (I found this easy tutorial for DIY fur collar.)
IN COLLAGE: Peter Jensen velvet collar swing coat from his Autumn Winter 2012 Thelma collection comes in three different versions. The lavender one had been featured in last issue of Lula under Lula Loves. Vivi Ponti from Vivetta last few seasons makes adorable coats with interesting details. The one on the photo (photographed and styled by Linda Portman) was from Vivetta AW 11 collection, while in new collection there is black coat with red fur details. Blue coat with black pockets and buttons is from Orla Kiely Pre-AW12 collection. Of course Alexa has it. **☺

Flirts in red

Although I was immune for a long time on excitement caused by Lana Del Rey, I must admit that Summertime Sadness is constantly on repeat on my Ipod lately. Touched?! It would perhaps be wrong word, since I already have my own thematic choreography (Tacky, I know). Precisely, Miss Del Rey’s verse where she dramatically sings about the red dress and big hair inspired me on the lookout for perfect autumn red dresses.
From Italian brand Vivetta that has always been on the sweet side of fashion, are available two red beauties. Martedi dress with long sleeves and scalloped inserts and bustier Sofia in prom style, both equally feminine and elegant. Orla Kiely again pleased her fans with red beauty in her collection, which for Fall 2012 is strappy party dress made of very expensive and comfortable ottoman fabric. And we didn’t yet forget the short-sleeved beauty with bow on waist from Orla’s Resort collection. The well-fitted red dress is already a star per se, so I believe in minimalistic ways of embellishments. More than appropriate for sweet moments would be pair of Charlotte Olympia kitty flats. While for the times of decadence, I would pick Valentino ballerinas with studs from Fall Noir capsule collection. Very welcomed is big hair or chignon in 1960s style, of course. (Think of Pattie Boyd.) I would finish ensemble with small pieces of gold jewelry or contrast bag. (Think of Alexa Chung during Paris S/S 2012 Season in dress from Valentino Red with bows on the shoulders.) Now that we have the perfect red dress, all we need are dinner dates and lot of pretty invites.
Call us little flirts, but that’s who we are.

sweet alphabet craze

When I spotted Robert Ryan’s  paper-cuts on the pages of Vogue back in the days, I immediately was bedazzled with these magical stories of paper. London-based contemporary artist is well known for his exceptional combination of illustration, sweet poetry and paper cuts. Because of his great skills with paper, you can hardly believe these are actually paper cuts. Except embellishing of our favourite magazines, such as Vogue, Amelia and many others or covers of smart words on our shelves, over the years, he had brought his unique and magical charm to our homes, offices and closets. These days there is another collaboration coming out of the Rob Ryan’s charming factory, and this time with Alphabet Bags. It’s nothing unusual for misslikey to spend a day examining Rob's pretty creations, but since the day she saw these sweet letter totes, somehow she’s feeling a huge craze for an alphabet. Just like she is learning letters again.

pretty cover

As a member of wrap up-obsessed-generation, it doesn’t happen just once that I judge book by its cover. Translated, I will often, if not always, pick item because of the package. So I am the type that falls on marketing tricks of pretty flowers, French inspired cottage style and clean pastel design that just calls you to love it (won’t even mention Liberty prints). Isn’t silly the fact that I would rather buy hair balsam in pale pink bottle rather the one dressed up in red, even if it’s not for my hair type. Simplified loveliness of Chanel's black and white  manages to deserve my full attention every time. Or youthful spirit of intellectual edginess that Marc Jacobs’s products spread. The basic Nivea cream because of the classical blue design is something that is always in my cosmetic bag. Does it give me feeling of unconditional happiness and delicateness that I can carry around? Maybe. That’s why I picked few things that lately caught up my full attention. On the list are Penguin new editions with embroidered cover; those of Emma and Secret Garden. I adore Orla Kiely radios because they remind me of Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl. Fifi Lapin cases for iPhone make technology world sweet. Or Diana F+ lomography cameras. Talking about good old Diana, at home I have Smena 8m, that’s perfect pro lomo camera. But no, I want Diana, and I even cannot decide what version of design I want. Maybe Dreamer because it reminds me of gardening and sunsets. Maybe Collette spotty one that I associate with Godard’s girls. Qing Hua because I am crazy about blue flowers and blue floral prints? Or Lomography's new beauty La Sardina Mobius that just calls me to spend a day wearing boater hat on Riviera during the 1920s. But I cannot travel through time, or can I?!

orla kiely coat

Dear Miss Autumn,

I wanted to say to you that I am so pleased that you are here. I enjoy sound of your showers and whispers of your leaves that fall. However I wanted to tell you that I think I need a coat. Not that I am desperate and ungrateful because I have lot of coats, but I need a proper one because I am grown up now. On the other hand, few days ago I was watching a TV show and I saw a lots of kids that don’t have autumn clothes. This made me sad. Okay, maybe I am also poor now, but I have lots of clothes. And do I need gray jacket that I wear for running? I don’t run, so I believe I don’t.
Because of this dear Miss autumn I will give all my clothes that I don’t wear anymore to those that need the same, and you can help me to find a job so I can buy this pretty Orla Kiely’s coat.

With love,
misslikey

Petite Cardigans

My petite cardigan, you are great part-time lover for spring days and summer nights. Unlike the jacket,I don’t have to
carry you around, if sun is bit happier that day and I have to work for a pound. You always find your place in the space
of my bag. Bows, spots, pom poms, hearts, flowers, birds, cats, stars; you perky guys, you are all very welcome on my
cardigans. Also I wouldn’t refuse you little pearls if you find yours place under the curls. And you little lace, you are
really sometimes cardigan’s finest grace.

Cloths full of spots

Don’t you feel terrified when you hear the words in and out? In today’s fashion when everything is popular, and when trendy is no longer synonym for style, I consider words like these useless. Unless you are trying to sell something.
Take for example polka dots pattern. The pattern that is named after the dance of the same name and originates from 19th century, was very popular in the middle of last century, so the '50s girls were those very fond of sweetheart dresses that had glance of candies and rainbows. After the 50s the pattern wasn’t the star in the trendland, but is always present everywhere, from runaways and streets to shops.
Polka dot is frequent pattern for light summer dresses or blouses, but we somehow forget to wear it in colder seasons. That’s why this season I like to see around in shops tights in this pattern that on simple black or white dresses with bit of jewelry will look very chic. With polka dot blouses that are ideal for office but also for rendezvous, we will be very feminine. And in the shirt or tunic dresses with carefully picked details as buttons or collars, we will be very cute. And these little spots will add vivacity to this very sleepy, snowy and rainy wintertime.
