If you are reader of misslikey blogspot and tumblr, you are probably familiar with the fact that I consider Wes Anderson a genius. Writer, director and producer who is innocently inspired with the Glass family always creates moving images that are memorable, pretty and educational. His heroines possess innocence of Ye-Ye girls and melancholic vibe of 1970s girl (read Nico) and always amuse us with their wit, intelligence and grace. Except for the movies, Wes is also known for his great commercial work. And the fact is, we don’t usually like TV ads, but when Wes directs them they are candies in motion. You do remember Stella Artois commercial from 2010 with Valentine Fillol Cordier that Wes co-directed with Roman Coppola? Well, these days the creative duo did another collaboration, this time for Prada’s new fragrance Candy.
♡♡♡♡
♡Star of the series of three short films for Prada Candy L'eau is a French actress Léa Seydoux (Midnight in Paris, Sister). Lea is quirky and charming Parisian dressed up in pretty pale mod dresses and red Mary Janes that finds herself in the love triangle in the city of love. We already love Candy. (The fragrance is available exclusively at Selfridges from March 28, and nationwide from April 29.) See all three films at Another Mag.
♡Another style film candy this month came from Lena Dunham. If Wes Anderson is innocently inspired by Franny and Zooey, Lena was inspired by The Royal Tenenbaums this time. The short film about friendship named Best Friends is for Rachel Antonoff Fall 2013 collection.
M-a-r-g-o-t. Tenenbaum. I really believe in Margot. I often imagine her in diverse situations walking around hauling her vague Nico melancholy and brown Kelly in hand. The one with missing finger. In vintage Lacoste tennis dress, Margot is an icon, and probably for 20 years or more will be Angela or Lula Mae to some new kids. Those kids would probably think of Lacoste as something really really cool so Lacoste peeps, if they haven’t already, should pay a huge amount of money to Wes Anderson. Being updated with The Rushmore Academy and everything that is happening in the world of Wes, loyal fans were waiting and waiting. We needed new female heroine, Wes! There’s no doubt that Bill Murray is genius but honestly, can Bill wear a dress? That’s why we can finally exhale – it came the time of Moonrise Kingdom.
Suzy is much younger than Margot and is far from a lesbian affair in Paris or lusty marriage experience. Girl that listens to Francoise Hardy’s sensual melodies wears 60s dresses with white cuffs and collars, knee socks, saddle shoes and basket bag. When you see her, you can easily imagine Tennessee Thomas, drummer of The Like. Or Ye-ye girls. But Suzy can be also one of the Beatlettes. Is that a reason we tweet and tumble and google her peachy pink outfits? Kasia Walicka-Maimone did a great job as costume designer. But will Suzy become our favorite Halloween costume and a girl that we can relate to, like Margot Tenenbaum is. We’ll see. But I can tell you that I am very excited to meet her. Are you?
