Shoe crush... Golden Ponies handmade

Golden Ponies are adorable handcrafted leather goodies created in Mexico by Erandi Gutiérrez. I found out about them via beautiful Jane of Fractured Moonlight who told me about Golden Ponies when I was in search for T-bar or Mary Jane flats. Golden Ponies offer wide range of our favourite models of shoes at affordable price (around 50 $) and in half sizes.
Another great thing about Golden Ponies is that these women's shoes are handmade to order and you can choose the colour and material of your favourite model. Marianne t-bar flats are just adorable, so as Biba Mary Jane heels inspired by Biba in 1960s or Mia flats with ankle strap. They also have perfect models of lace up boots, oxfords and brogues. I haven’t placed my first order yet, because I am still in doubt of the color and material of my first Marianne flats. But will have to actually decide about this soon to have them with me in these upcoming days of spring.

See Golden Ponies website to shop these pretty shoes online, or visit Golden Ponies Etsy shop.

Charlotte's Christmas

Charlotte Dellal, one of the world’s favorite shoemakers, has already won our hearts with her iconic Dolly shoes with gold platform and Kitty flats that turned hundreds of girls into a cat lovers. Charlotte’s factory never had a trouble with originality, so this time they decided to fashionably accessorize holiday season with the Christmas collection. Except that these festive pieces possess that signature old-Hollywood vibe of the label, they promise to reveal the fun side of its wearer. Classics are embellished with little bit of holiday joy; so Kitty flats are wrapped in glitter and red Dolly shoes are embellished with ankle straps encrusted with gold bells. And those Pandora clutches with velvet inserts in three different colors are just perfect addition for holiday parties. Are you ready for the dance floor?

Friendship of pale pink and black

It was the colour combination that Luella Bartley couldn’t resist so among the lovely shopping bags few times sneaked in catwalk look in this colour combination. And was always pretty. It’s the colour combination perfect for the cardigans; a black trim gives the grown-up vibe to girls that want to dress like cupcakes. Milly satin-trimmed cardigan is just like that, so is Orla Kiely two-toned cardigan from autumn collection. Blush and black is colour combination that Karl Lagerfeld recognizes as the friend for Chanel’s black and white. Especially in couture when creates a dream with charming black contrast. Do you remember Chanel’s double strap Mary Janes with just a bit of black? I almost bought similar version at Asos, but every time I saw refined Chanel satin around Alexa Chung’s toes of I gave up. Pale pink would be perfect colour for the walls and black oval frames. And polka dots or hearts…you almost hear them sing when on the light shade of pink. Blouses can be also devoted to this friendship… with or without a detail, and with a good pair of black skinny jeans on legs. And this combination is easy for DIYs… just imagination and satin ribbons are what you need. These tender pastel tones are kissing the dark like in dream…

spring and the shoe

Have you noticed how birds are chirping different in this time of year? Is it possible that these little sky creatures are more joyful because of the spring in the air? Air that smells like bubblegum is filled with so many tender sounds that are catching every moment to melt with flamboyant nature, so who to blame if all you want is little laughing in the grass. On days like these don’t be surprised if it’s something like petite flower enough to make you jolly. It’s the time of the long walks and balmy nights, sunsets with coffee while your hair swings carried upon easy breeze. Our friends, Mrs. light dress, Mr. trench coat and Miss small jacket will finally see the rays of light. Instead of the winter shoes it’s time for slipping into something new. Who is gonna be your walking partner for this time of year? Did you already pick your spring shoes? My heart is happier cause my ballet flats will finally see the sunshine. But I have to decide which lover will join my collection. With classic black suede ballerinas with a bow I have a quirky backup that will fit into my spring vision of edgy Lolita; robin’s egg blue ballerinas with a bow. I bought them on sale cause it was too harsh to resist the factor of three; soft as the gloves, price of few pennies, and shopman that was kind of sad. I have a big plan for them; they will join my troupe of plain petite tank dresses with elastic waist and embellished neckline. Well I have one more pair; my daily ballet flats but those two little orphans look so homeless that it was unpleasant feeling to capture them.
Hmm...so the candidates for the future lover are these three lovelies. Possible lover No.1 are these nude ballet flats. They are bit above the budget but they are super elegant. And I have a thing for a t-strap since I first saw Marianne Faithfull’s feet. Lover No.2 is also adorable since I am obsessed with stars lately and fabric after all the enlarging looks extremely soft. Lover No.3 are Maryjane with a bow, Marais invention, and the model that is for second time on misslikey's decision plan. They are just too cute. And made of satin.
So it’s pretty hard to decide whom to choose from these three possible lovers. Freedom is when you think about it, not the best feeling in the world for girls that are not on personal with decisions.
But I will decide. Yes. I can. I am enough mature to make a decision. For the God’s sake those are only the shoes. It’s not that I am picking the house. Anyway. We’ll see….
If I could only have them all! Well, it’s not that I am hopeless case, am I?

A girl and the shoe

Sometimes when I sleep at nigh, I have this strange dream. Sometimes it’s placed at Lanvin and sometimes at French Sole store. First I am surrounded with the light, great silky light that slowly disappears like some special effect from fancy Hollywood movie. There is a strange sound fragile like violins. More and more are becoming clear the wooden white shelves. On these shelves are little round floral boxes in line, and on every box is a pair of ballet flats, all shiny, polished and vivacious that you expect that they will start their own dance. Then I carefully start moving towards them and just in the moment when I want to pick up a pair, someone squeezes my hand very harsh and all the shoes disappear. I wake up sitting in bed and I start philosophical questioning myself if it is a dream or a nightmare when it’s equally beautiful and sad. Is it a sign of developed obsessive behavior or is it worst the fact than when first snow will come at the door, you will rather be ballerina on the ice than girl that wears boots with the fur coat. On these days when your feet will say ouch but you mind will put a veto on complain.
My mind, a very strange friend of mine, somewhere back in the history of my life have developed another obsession; fascination with delicate ladylike flat sandals. In exceptions, they can have a bit of the heel so that’s how my term, the church shoe was formed.
This summer when I was having my online mission, pursue of cute flats, during my working hours, I ran into awfully pretty Criss Cross sandals from brand called Marais USA. The moment I step on their world wide web, I forget all the shoes I know and felt like I know Catherine and Hayley, Marais mothers, all of my life. Work of Two Parsons colleagues makes me joyful because these two really know how to make a shoe. I mean, Practical shoe, every day good old shoe but at the same time shoe that’s graceful. And with civilized price.
On the beginning of this magnificent autumn, with the leaves that started to fall I fell again for Marais, but this time for Maryjane Bow models. Two tone beige, blue or black suede; troubled mind of mine cannot decide which pair is lovelier.
If only Cinderella knew for this version of Mary Jane’s she would become a princess by just looking at them.

“My boyfriend said once that if he hears one more time ballet flats,
he will commit a suicide.
So I decided to keep my mouth shut.”

chic details: suede boots in summer

Storing of the winter clothes can sometimes become a problem. Many of us, from all of those clothes even don’t know to distinguish what is summer or winter item. Certainly that are lot of items that you cannot wear in the heat, like coats or wool sweaters, so of course there is need to store them and make a room for summer and some transitional items. Surely is that the cardigans and not so thick jackets could serve in the chilly summer evenings. And when all the summer sandals install on the shelves, get the bag where you will put some of the winter\fall footwear you can wear in summer, and keep it available. Many of us this year will keep oxfords in the summer wardrobe, but if you have suede boots don’t forget to keep them close.

Probably you won’t wear them in the middle of the day if it’s too hot, but for the summer nights or festivals they can be perfect details with many summer items. Suede boots and little white summer dress is already a classic. Same classic Phillip Lim used to present resort collection so suede boots except with dresses were also paired with jumpsuits and 70s inspired cropped bell-bottoms. Flat suede boots are also favorite footwear item for actress and our new fashion darling Isabel Lucas. She wears them on everything; from white or floral dresses to shorts. And Isabel, she is definitely doing the right thing.

Back to the 60s with Marianne Faithfull

One moment we are flirting with 80s and 90s, next with 70s. Are we born in wrong era? Of so many eras that were alternating this year, the swinging sixties are probably most feminine and romantic. Lot of designers in recent resort collections were channeling 60s, of which Marc Jacobs collection was one of the Please, Can I have it all kind of collection. And truly 60s are unfailing era. Age of icons; Biba, Mary Quant, Rudi Gernreich, Twiggy, Warhol, Edie, Brigitte, Jane Birkin, Mia Farrow, Ana Karina, Francoise Hardy, Audrey, Bob Dylan, just to mention a few. List is just too long for recital but it would be just sin not to mention Beatles, The Rolling Stones and their girls. Gosh how many inspiration they left us. That's why I remembered of one of my favorite, Marianne Faithfull and her style during the sixties.
Welcome abroad, THE SWINGING SIXTIES!

For Marianne-esque charm I choose dresses at fantastic Orla Kiely, famous for her cognizable prints. Emerald green dress with cutout at neck is totally Marianne, same as the printed one with petal neckline.
Shoes are Clerance Le Flaca suede sandals from Coclico, Vintage 20s T strap sandals, Coclico suede sandals in royal blue with charming name-Odalisk Sapphire and Chie Mihara sandals in dark green and brown.

All nude; from tip to toe

Nude tones and pastels are prevailing in every spring seasons so this year again there is a "case of neutral and blush" in various designers collections- from those that are masters in nude like Stella, Chloe or Sophia Kokosolaki are to those that are new in this territory of neutral. Not a strange cause nude tone can give strong effect and in the same time depending of the item can have different output on the outfit; Grecian sexy, rebellious edgy or romantic fragile. Since last spring season one of the top IT items was boyfriend blazer in nude, this year in outwear I was hoping to see the perfect nude parka but my favorite creators of nude failed in that. That certainly won't cause the depression, since there are many of nude lovelies out there- same as those "big", many of independent designers were this season playing with nude so I picked the most amusing but in the same time practical items. Let's see what are misslikey NUDE LIKES of the spring summer 2010 season.

LONG NUDE DRESS

Long dresses are absolute IT items of the season. In the summer the one that is sleeveless is good for mixing and matching with summer tops over it. If you choose the one in nude pay attention that is not too tight if fabric is bit see through.

Misslikey LIKES:
Acne long dress with kimono sleeves-Acne Collection has long dresses in nude with kimono sleeves and those tank. The one with kimono sleeves is item that you can wear in spring and summer. On the back has charming buttons in old school style.

Second one, long tunic is from New Zealand-based brand Lonely Hearts and part of "Brains for Dinner" collection. Silk tunic that is bit see through, is perfect for hot summer days with flats or for lace up boots in grungy manner. (for those not in N.Z or Australia it is available online at Bona Drag)
Talking about Australia, NZ and nude have to mention designer Nathan Smith (check his woman spring summer collection and all the lovely nude items he designs)
MINI DRESS IN NUDE
Nude mini can be minimalistic daily solution daily with different flats and for the night same dress easily can transform into the party dress. On the spring runaway Alberta Ferretti, always master in draping of nude and sheer fabrics didn't fail either this season neither Donna Karan that went in the same direction. Didn't fail either those Avant-garde like Bruno Pieters with body con draping or AF Vandervost with asymmetrical cuts. Devi Kroell is bringing little romance in the nude dress with camisole shape and buttons and Yves Saint Laurent and Rue Du Mail nude dresses are runaway items to fall in love with.

Misslikey LIKES:
Petar Petrov nude sleeveless minis.
Petrov, Bulgarian designer based in Vienna, except is the master in men's fashion, showed his abilities for womenswear this spring; collection is play of the basic colors and aesthetic shapes that in same time are totally edgy and ladylike. Except simple nude tank dresses, skirts or pants love factor are bit draped basic t-shirts in nude.

Second one on the image paired with black boots, simple khaki nude dress, part of spring summer collection of lovely LA based label Wren, named after Dickens character Jenny Wren, aka Fanny Cleavers.

Romantic one with white stripes is from Alabama Chanin "Love and Hapiness" collection. AC is label of designer Natalie Chanin, finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2009. This 100% organic cotton dress with camisole shape is like just created for romantic spring walks.

NUDE TOP
Last spring we and Vogue Paris lusted after Margiela's bodysuits in nude. Would we love this spring Celine and Bruno Pieters long sleeves body con tops in nude? The item is total basic and suitable for a lots of outfits. Totally simple but gorgeous on black skinnies and all fashion forward mix-and-match with everything that is in closet. The simple way is to get American Apparel tested bodysuit in nude. Currently they are selling those with short sleeves. Or go for lingerie basics that you be used good under wide neck tops or those crop to create a double color effect.

Misslikey LIKES
The pretty lingerie - strapless bandeau bra and strapless slip that can easily follow the "lingerie out of the bed" rule. The slip can be easily paired with a simple summer skirt and here comes your evening outfit. Both items are from label Isabella Oliver, where except womenswear, also design maternity collection (keep an eye on the trench coats)

For those crazy about crop tops loveliest solutions are nude crop tank from San Francisco RosenMunns or the one from Brooklyn's Ambit that has line of tops that can be purchased in LIGHT VISION store.

NUDE SHOE
Shoes in nude tones are spring summer love because they visually elongate the leg. If you have iconic Lanvin ballerina flats you don't have to bother - You'll wear them this spring for sure. From the catwalk of nude shoes I adore Givenchy nude wedges with knotted straps, but also I visited some of my favorite shoe makers to check out what they are offering in nude. According to seen- must be that nude is IT of the season's footwear.

Misslikey LIKES;

From London- based footwear label, F-TROUPE, that brings classical Brit charm to nouveau style, I picked in dancing Mary Jane shoes with satin ribbon and Oxfords embellished with tiny gold stars.
In the second row are Rachel Comey's ivory flats, just everything that girl needs for restless spring dressing (this pair available at Creatures of Comfort)
Other superb-finds are Peep Toe heels in clog style from Georgina Goodman and super cool Oxfords in nude with sheer detail from super cool footwear designer Jeffrey Campbell.

NUDE PLAYSUIT
Playsuit somehow manages to evoke in me childhood images. Last season craziness was for nude jumpsuit. This season is short; nude or printed.

Misslikey LIKES
What to say about this playsuit when image speaks for itself?! This "perfect little thing" is from British label Sykes spring summer 2010 collection. Founder, Joanna Sykes is on the scene for 4 seasons with her own label after working for many fashion houses. Sykes spring collection is transparent, simple and plain, filled with essential items same as those bit eccentric like leather pants or metallic pants suit.
Again nothing to add, except announce great love for Sykes.

Holiday Accessories Report

A Woman's Right to Shoes

Miu Miu shoes are always on our wish list and this nude pumps with ankle strap are already crush of one of our faves iconic girls, Giovanna Bataglia, while chic chocolate crush comes from Proenza Schouler. Who can resist Proenza’s this season wooden platforms? Wedges this year came back with style, and Acne wedges you can either love or hate. No matter of your feelings toward them they deserved IT status in blogosphere. This love it’s on with Alexa Chung. And Rumi Neeley.
Still there is nothing sophisticated and classic enough like good old Mary Jane's. Since are holidays right time to be glossy on right place, why wouldn’t Mary Jane be metallic(Rupert Sanderson)
Last crush is absolute lace up booties tidbit from Korean Pastar, in suede leather with gold buttons (Louboutin inspired)

Satchel is oversized clutch

Designer houses are bit short of oversized clutches so we decided to transform our satchels into the clutch (remember Tolula Adeyemi and her orange satchel/clutch love). Since we did that practical thing, we are ready to run from school (office) to party in-a-minute.
Obsessions are Boyy model Slash (discovered Boyy through Dream Sequins, one of the dearest fashionista bloggers), Proenza Schouler’s PS1 inspired by classical satchel, this year irresistible in purple suede. Same feelings are toward Farrow, oversized clutch in cognac rustic leather from Hayden-Harnett

Take a Bow

Long time we’ve been very obsessed with hair decorating. It’s probably because we want of our little heads to be very prominent. That’s why we had flowers, birds, LV bunny ears on them, and even mingling as a Minnie’s with mouse ears (just take a look at Chanel Iman in Vogue Germany editorial)
Current obsessions of evoking childhood memories, except our sweetest Tavi, are bow headbands. We heart Natasha Poly in Vogue Paris editorial (Givenchy headband) and the most stylish twins after Olsens, Caroline & Alice Rausch (photo via refinery29)
Will you choose big (Promod) or small (Juicy Couture) bow or you will attach one on the top of your chignon?

Sprinkle little stardust with the finest pieces of jewelry

Vintage medallions are obsession of art and fashion lovers, and we find irresistible those on the chains (Vintage Carnelian Cameo Locket Necklace)
We loved stars on tees now we put them on our ears (Kenneth Jay Lane's gold plated stud clip-on earrings). But still, we adore vintage earrings(Rachel Leigh’s Vintage Crystal Drops ). And lot of rings, especially when we wear them all together (oval peach Moonstone ring, Sheila Fajl ring with etched lettering, John Hardy 'Dot' ring) We don’t have to mention what we feel about nice, elegant detail bracelets in black and gold blend (Marni)

Last but not less important

Oh how we loved sheer tights with little polka dots that we saw on Balenciaga this fall (hat inspired lot of retail stores like oasis). If you are classic I strongly recommend Accessorize UK tights. Faux Fur scarves always mellow my heart; they take me back on Portobello Road in my imagination)- we picked black faux fur with satin bow from Debenhams and Eskell faux fur scarf from refinery29shop.
And gloves (Gaga, ooh la la) we don’t need to mention because we know how those beauties spice things up; Phillip Lim's short studded black leather gloves, ModCloth sheer gloves with black polka dots

5 YYYES for lace up boots

1. They raze the statement ˝boots are for summer, flops are for winter˝
You know how it feels in the winter when you have layers of outwear and you still need to wear giant shoes. Lace up boots, for some reason adhere on leg more naturally than most of the boots, and laces are making the effect of detail so you don’t have to do additional effort.
2. Feel of the model off the duty style
Long before Ann Demeulemeester or even when this trend of lace up started, the girls that walk the runaway had sense for motorcycle style.

Hana Soukupova, Joy Bryant wearing lace up boots

Alexa Chung, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Flo Gennaro in lace up boots
3. Heels or flats
Just choose which makes you feel more comfy daily because even flats lace up boots are very wearable for the night, parties (giving your outfit strong, confident glance)

Abbey Lee Kershaw in Ruby Leather Lace up boots from Urban Outfitters, Eniko Mihalik
4. Findable from 1000 $ to 50$ depending on what brand you will choose. From flats my favorites are models with tradition like Martens, Timberland’s or Justin’s (vintage Justin lace up boots are like melody for my heart)

Combat
oak boots, Mentor lace up boots, Zeha Berlin boots, Jeffrey Campbell navy lace up boots, Timberland lace up boots
5. Working for the in- a- minute chic
Just think of white long tees and stockings or even nude legs when it’s little warmer. Think of all the high wasted skirts and ripped jean.

little clubbing dress is sequined

My thought of hot summer twilight used to be glass of Veuve Clicquot and Grecian nude dress with straps. This summer I am all about city and sparkling. I mean even my favorite couturier of Grecian after Kokosalaki, Alberta Ferretti is all about glitter this summer.
Since Sequined dresses are and were one of the major trends, they are available for small amounts in cheap retailer stores or on the high street in high prices
The story was great; yes they offered us lots of heavy sequins, sleeveless A cuts, even short sleeves. And then God send us Decarnin and Balmain. And we saw at Balmain that they were fooling us. The sequin dress doesn’t have to be heavy, and its purpose is not to be the public mirror.

Balmain dress available for preorder at Mrs H
Purpose is more to be sexy and to look bit wet. And certainly not spreading the street-light effect. Believe me, I tried a lot of sequin dresses out there and I realized the cut has to be perfect. Mini dresses with long sleeves and light sequins are favorable. Heavy sequins on sleeveless dresses hardly look good even on 0 size girls but if choosing heavy one rather go for bodycon. Remember that Kate Moss dress for top shop? Concept of dress was adorable but who was suppose to wear it? Dress weights more than regular girl.
Since our designers realized that on beginning of the year you will need to wait for fall expansion of mini sequin dresses in the stores. Jen Kao, Stella McCartney, Gucci, Alexander Wang, Gucci, Macqua, Twenty8Twelve; all presenting us douce small sequin dresses with perfect cut.

Great alternative for sparkly, glossy look are dresses made of metallic, polyester or lamé. Good choice for non sequin type of girls that want to be sparkly and glossy sometimes, can be simple white T tank dress with heavier scarf made of lamé or sequins. Also wearable daily on white tee. And tell me what is better than to own soft sequined jacket and wear it on white tee, jeans and ponytail
Please don’t let them fool you with heavy sequins; and don’t fall for the sales.

I managed to find this Vicky Martin dress that looks soft, in two colors through stylefinder
lamé dresses from
American Apparel, Les Chiffoniers sequin spray jacket on netaporter
Suede booties, particulary wedges and nude legs match perfectly with small sequin dress. I am sure Daria Werbovy knew that when she wore them at Met with Balmain dress

I am head over heels for Prada Wedge suede boots, Bergdorf, though I wouldn't mind to have Alaia's wedges from Matches

Cinderella story

Once upon a time there was a little girl.
She was awfully roisy, charming and innocent in the way only child (misslikey) can be.
Imaginary world was her favorite world and easiest way to pop into it was to wear mama's shoes. Since they were too big, one day little girl flipped and broke her knees. Mammy was mad but girl couldn't understand why because mammy was the one that introduced her with Cinderella story.
Maybe mum was angry just because she predicted that her daughter would one day be more likely to become a stiletto strutter rather than a prince seeker.
Recently I was asked if I am shoe collector. And I thought; OMG I don't have shoes at all. And then your girl misslikey revealed the awful truth of all truths; every girl is absolute shoe collector. Maybe you don't own100 pairs of shoes or maybe you are even E.M.O. towards them. But my friend you are a shoe collector. I'll tell you why.
First crush
I remember falling in love with a pair of shoes. Low-cut stilettos, black lace, handmade. Just perfect. First love for me and love for the sales lady with my dad cause she either thought he was either very charming or silly enough to buy snot-nosed kid so expensive shoes. What can I say? Ain't love grand?
Mem'ries
Remember the shoes you were dying for 5 years ago? Would you wear them today? Probably no, neither would I. Who didn’t buy a pair of shoes just for certain occasion and wore them once? Maybe you own pair that you bought in second hand practically for free and you are proud of your bargain. Maybe you are one of those lucky gals that inherited pair from chic grandma. Maybe you rewarded yourself at some moment of your life with a pair shoes and they have rather emotional than chic value. That makes them part of you.
My blue suade shoes on
Beyond passé is to be depressed but beyond chic is to be melancholic sometimes. We don’t smile in every moment of our life and it wouldn’t be so interesting if we'd always have a smiiiiiile on our lips. Well except if you are taking happy pills (in that case please introduce me to them). When girl is low nothing can lift her up better than high heels. Feel of rebirth. No one can feel it for you. The me myself & moi moment.
Killer shoes
Reason we love Vivienne Westwood. She is very aware that in every girl lies a potential striper. End of story.
Status shoes
Maybe you don’t own them yet but one day I know you will. Magnifique, cause every time you look at them u think „damn I made it! “ What Birkin bag is in the in the bag world, status shoes are in the shoe world.
Lost souls
All of those shoes that you fell in love with but you waited for sale because they were too expensive. And then you felt like Cinderella’s evil sister trying to squeeze into the only pair left but it just didn’t work. And how many times you bought shoes two sizes too big, so you need a supply of cotton adequate for a beauty shop just to balance in them?
Can't take my eyes of you/can't take them off case
Are flats or heels what makes you very stabile? If you aren't in relationship with your daily shoes you aren't able to run the streets in them. But sometimes they can cause you a bad shoe day (misslikey is just upset when it’s raining outside and she wants to be all tiny and run in the flops)

p.s. and at the end every fairytale is a shoe fairytale. You cannot walk barefoot in the wonderful world of magic. Look what happened to Cinderella. Was she happy without her shoe? Aha, you thought she was after the prince, no silly you; he was just person who found her shoe.
And in the times when the world doesn’t seem to be such magical place, pair of shoes is your secret fly formula. Mary Poppins has her umbrella and every asphalt Cinderella has her shoes.
p.i.s.s. shoe queen myth does exist. And has name; Carine Roitfeld. We know jealousy isn't cool at all but hmmmm? Just wait that someone invents a little device that detects perfect shoes. It won't stop beeping when Carine is around.

And when it comes to Manolos Carine wears them beyond. These beauties below are Manolos for Christopher Kane. JAK&JIL named them as best 2008 shoes. Shoe Intelligence has name and is JAK & JIL
